#59. Everyone Has A Plan Until…

You forget why you were doing it in the first place.

When we look at this quote by Iron Mike, I think we can all reflect on it and realise, as Lone Leaders, shit often goes wrong… and it sucks.

It’s not through ill intention, lack of confidence or skill, but it comes down to that adage - you can only control what you can control.

And you can control, how you respond to any situation… so let’s break it down.

It’s not hard to trip over the latest productivity hack, strategic guide (hell I’ve done a tonne) and ‘hacks’ when you are scrolling your favourite social platform.

But here’s the kicker - they are generic.

They are not asking you what you are trying to achieve…

100K followers or you don’t pay…
$14,000 per day with no website or Shopify…
$100m playbook, 3 simple steps…

You know the drill. Mostly BS.

These may work for some people… but if they do, what does every, single, one in the small print disclaim: results are rare, these are not ordinary, lots of factors, we cannot be held accountable, etc etc etc.

It doesn’t fill you with hope does it… that’s $9 I’ll never see again. 😊

So if having a plan isn’t the key, what is?

It’s your intention.

It’s your focus on what you REALLY want.

It’s your ability to execute.

Having a plan is the second step in the process of all growth.

When it comes down to it we tend to get the whole growth process wrong from your solopreneur start-up to the $ 1 billion corporate.

I’ve been in those meetings where $10s if not $100ks are being lost or wasted and no one knows why… and I think this is the recipe we all need to adopt:

1. Ask the horrifying question of why?
2. Ask the question who?
3. Ask the question where?
4. Ask the question what?
5. Ask the question how…
6. Execute.
7. Suck a bit.
8. Win a bit.
9. Learn.
10. Repeat the good stuff.
11. Ditch the bad stuff.
12. Ask why.
13. Repeat.

Why do I think this is a recipe you should consider?

If we were all nailing our strategy and plan, we wouldn’t suffer as we do as Lone Leaders.

Understanding why will not stop the suffering, it will not protect you from the hard days, it will not bring you wealth.

But it will allow you to respond positively to all of those barriers to move forward, despite the stuff that sucks.

How do I know… I have never coached a single client who said money or followers was their goal or ambition… when you dig deep they want to be fulfilled, protect their loved ones and make a difference… the rest?

That’s all window dressing.

So when you sit down to your to-do list each morning, a little jaded, a little tired and fed up… your first item on the list should be…

  1. Why…

That’s when 90% of your to-do list becomes irrelevant.

So let’s be like Iron Mike, take the punches, have a plan, take the punches.

Become the heavyweight champion of your world.

Until next week, ask why…

Gx
